The church scattered movement is all about equipping Christians to live out their faith starting at home, then work and in their neighborhood. It prioritizes the responsibility of every Christian to own their own personal spiritual maturity and that of their family.
At the very basic level we must understand when we become Christians we are born again and the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. We are eternally secure but we must intentionally develop the daily spiritual disciplines to transform our minds and hearts.
This process is all about putting off old lies from our minds, renewing our minds with biblical truth and then putting on that new truth by faithfully applying it every day. One simple example in scripture is we put off lying and put on telling the truth.
This renewing our minds and daily obedience is like filling a database with new information that can be used later as needed. The law of the harvest says you will reap to the same degree you sow. Application, little data or new truth in, little truth available for the temptations of life.
As we mature, we are challenged in scripture to cast out every evil imagination and bring every through captive to the truth of God’s word. The Holy Spirit will act like a massive search engine during these daily battles as He reminds us of the truth we have applied in our lives.
In our prayer life all during the day these battles are fought to determine what we are going to believe and that leads to how we behave. We have a shield of faith that constantly reminds us to trust in the character of the Father. We also have a sword of the Spirit that defeats the lies of the evil one with the truth of scripture.
As we continue to grow spiritually we develop discernment. This the supernatural ability to tell the difference between what is actually true compared to what is almost true.
The committed Christian will guard their mind against any lies and fill their minds daily with biblical truth. The ultimate truth is that even through we may lose a few battles in this life, the War has already been won for us by Jesus Christ and we are eternally secure in Him. Welcome to Christianity in the 21st century.
