Church Scattered: Personal Leadership Life’s Greatest Challenge

The one thing about leadership that has never changed is that you have to learn to lead yourself first before you can ever effectively lead other people. A reminder of my favorite leadership quote by Thomas Watson, “nothing so conclusively proves a person’s ability to lead others as what they do from day to day to lead themselves.”

I want to challenge you to be committed to nothing but excellence in every area of your life both personally and professionally. The church scattered mission of representing God to the world demands that we be all in as a Christian leader.

The core values that we hold will directly determine our definition of success in all of life. We will either live out the script that others have written for us or we will have the courage to write out own based on biblical truth.

My passion is to motivate you to be willing to pay the price to define what you want your legacy to be for the people and priorities that you care about the most. Quite frankly, when it is all said and done that is all that really matters.

We have been told to redeem the time because the days are evil and we are seeing that play out in ways we never imagined before.  We don’t want to look back with regrets because we valued things over people and the pleasures of this life over the rewards of eternity. William Lewis has well said, “The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it.”

The old saying still rings true today, “are the things that you are living for worth Jesus dying for”, and if the answer is no then you must confess that and commit to changing yourself so that you become a fully devoted follower of Christ.  Nothing less than eternity for millions of people hangs in the balance.

Your personal leadership responsibility is to completely follow Christ everyday in the church scattered starting at home, then work and in your neighborhood.  Then because the Father has worked in you, He can now work through you for the good of others and His glory.
